The original form of cyber-sex
Back in 1979, we long-time Trekkers eagerly awaited the rebirth of our long-lamented, long-departed favorite sci-fi TV show, STAR TREK in a new, improved format: widescreen, Dolby stereo sound, and with the original cast reunited. What anticipation! It was such a thrill finally walking into that theater for what promised to be the motion picture event of a lifetime!
Yet, where is there to go from such lofty expectations but into sub-warp drive? That's life after all, but who was thinking along those lines just then?
Make no mistake: this very first Star Trek movie is S-L-O-W paced and the plot twist of a man mating with a computer almost embarrassing. Here, an antique space probe initially IDed as "V'ger" eventually gets it on with Commander Decker (Collins).
As for the regular cast, Lt. Uhura looks chunkily middle-aged. CPO Janice Rand (formerly Ens.), who disappeared mid-way through Season #1 (whispers: Grace Lee got fired!), is just as mysteriously...
